Wondering how long your essential oils will be good for? Most oils just get better with time, but some do not! Check out our list for more details!

This is a general guide to how long your essential oils should last when stored in a cool, dark place tightly capped. Keeping the original orifice reducers and lids on the oils ensure the best seal to avoid oxidation. Essential oils will not go rancid like other oils, instead they will oxidize and lose their therapeutic benefits. This chart is a great way to make sure your oils work when you need them to!


1-2 Years

  • California Lemon
  • Lime
  • Pink Grapefruit
  • Sweet Orange
  • Tangerine

 

2-3 Years

  • Frankincense
  • Lemongrass
  • Roman Chamomile
  • Rosemary
  • Scotch Pine Needle
  • Spearmint

3-4 Years

  • Bergamot
  • Black Pepper
  • Citronella
  • Clary Sage
  • Cypress
  • Eucalyptus

4-5 Years

6-8+ Years

Carrier oils- these will go rancid over time, some faster than others. This is a benefit of fractionated coconut oil, it is one of the longest lasting carriers. If your carrier smells or looks different, time for a new bottle!
